WEEK 5: Let it Rain
This week we welcomed a new Editor to our team. At Humour Me, getting a gradual start is a rare occurrence. The Editor was immediately plunged into the hustle and bustle of preparing for the launch of the second micro content film for Arctic Fox.
In addition to Arctic Fox, there was a lot of work taking place for Unique Shiksha. Deadlines were getting tighter and the team was feeling the stress. We take deadlines seriously here and make sure we do our best to deliver on time. In the past, we have even come up with entire print concepts with less than a day’s notice. This sometimes means staying late, but anyone in the advertising industry will know that ours is definitely not a nine to five job.
Before we release a film, it always goes through multiple edits. This means that we will have seen a film at least five times before it is released. The background score to the Arctic Fox film we would be releasing this week was the waltz from Swan Lake. This piece has a real tendency to get stuck in one’s head. I personally found it quite amusing to see the entire office humming Tchaikovsky for a week.
Office morale received a much needed boost mid-week with the arrival of the rains. In fact, when it first rained, all of us rushed to the balcony to celebrate. In Delhi, where temperatures have consistently been touching 47 degrees Celsius, rain was most welcome. It has rained every day since and we couldn’t be happier.
Bob has now become a permanent member at the office. Having said that, she still enjoys the outdoors and occasionally leaves for a while when the office becomes a little too monotonous for her. We have discovered that she has a penchant for hunting pigeons. I like that she is still independent and can hunt for herself, but some of the other team members were mildly traumatised when they saw her friendly face covered in blood and feathers.
At the end of the week, we released the new Arctic Fox film. We had a few trepidations regarding the film being too niche, as it features a ballerina. We were concerned that audiences might not relate and therefore would not engage with the content. You can imagine our surprise when we saw that this film had in fact out-performed all the rest! Consumers seemed to really enjoy it, and we received an immense positive response. It was a great way to end the week.

The only downside to this success is that the person in charge of promotion and targeting has left for a couple of weeks, and I am now filling in for her. She has left some pretty big shoes to fill and I hope I am up to the task. I’ll let you know how I fare.
